Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

North Charleston High School has several students who struggle with self-image, confidence, and their overall personal wellness. Due to the socio-economic status of the population, some students go without the basic necessities of living a healthy lifestyle. Many students skip meals like breakfast and dinner, therefore they are not receiving the nutrients that they need in order to succeed in school. Junk food and soda has become a part of a more convenient diet leading some students to become overweight. Many of these students are athletes and in need of resources to maintain a balanced diet and consistent exercise. This project will help them do both!

My Project

With the help of donors, these materials will allow us to start a movement here at North Charleston High School. Students will be provided with not only materials they need to be successful, but also with education on how to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Being a Title I school, many of our athletes and students do not have access to the basic needs that allow them to compete in the classroom or on the court. Many athletes show up for practices without having eaten a balanced, nutritious meal, without socks and sports bras, and without other basic needs. This program could change the lives of many students to transform they way they view themselves and their self-image. With the help of the Beachbody programs such as Insanity, P90x, 80 Day Obsession, and more, students and athletes will have the opportunity to exercise and train at the school using the weights, resistance bands, sliders, and other exercise equipment. These programs will transform them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Building confidence, believing in yourself, and having an unstoppable mindset will allow these females to enter the next phase of their life prepared for anything.
