This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our third-grade class respectfully requests support for fish tank supplies to care for our classroom pets. These aquatic animals are not only beloved members of our learning environment but also central to our yearlong life science curriculum. Throughout the school year, students observe, record, and reflect on the fish's behaviors, life cycles, and habitat needs. These real-life experiences allow students to make meaningful connections to topics such as animal adaptations, ecosystems, and the interdependence of living things. The presence of the fish supports both academic learning and social-emotional development, teaching responsibility, empathy, and the importance of daily caretaking routines.

To maintain a healthy and enriching environment for our fish, we are seeking supplies such as water conditioners, food, replacement filters, a small gravel vacuum, and tank-safe decorations or plants.

These resources will help us provide proper care while enhancing our students' observational learning and inquiry-based discussions. Having a well-maintained tank allows our classroom to stay connected to the natural world, especially for students who may not have pets or access to nature outside of school. Your support would make a lasting impact on our hands-on science instruction and the classroom community we build around our living organisms.
