This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a half-poverty, high-need population in northern California. Our school has no extra funds; we are without many things. Kindergarten is a time to explore and realize who you are, who you would want to be, and to feel safe. Unfortunately, almost 40% or more of my students are without many supplies.
As a teacher, there is so much I can do, and there is nothing at times I can do.
This is why we need your help. These children are so thankful, so wonderful and all they need is someone to believe in them. Therapeutic play can serve in individual growth purposes. In childhood, the therapeutic play serves both social and personal functions. Children who have had traumatic experiences can work out their demons encountered by their childhood experience as well as many challenges and anticipations of the future. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and countries. I am so lucky to be their teacher.
My Project
A class aquarium will promote science. This is a special classroom aquarium that is an easy view design to help young learners look at fish from every angle. It promotes the big idea in science and helps them categorize one fish from another by making comparisons. Your kind donation, no matter how small, will help these children learn science through...fish!
We have a fish science unit that has us buy fish for the students, but no aquarium is included in the kit.
With your donation, all three kindergarten classes will be able to look at fish in a wonderful environment. We thank you for helping us create a wonderful classroom filled with living organisms we can study and learn from.
Added to this project we would like to make a habitat for butterflies to grow and go through metamorphosis. We would like to add this to the science area with the fish to do observations about animals and how they grow and live.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
