Help me give my students flexible seating options to optimize their learning opportunities! These different seats will allow them to work in a space that’s both comfortable and empowers their learning!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach first grade in a Collaborative Co-Teaching Classroom in New York City. My class is made up of both general education and special education students. My firsties are loving and caring. They look forward to school each day! My Co-Teacher and I work in small groups with them to make sure we able to reach each child through their individual learning style. My students come from homes in a lower socioeconomic area. My school is a Title One school. All students at my school receive free lunch.
My Project
In my classroom there are many students with different learning styles. Flexible seating allows me to meet every child’s needs! Flexible seating gives students some degree of choice and control over their learning environment. It allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their positions and locations as needed. This is especially important for children who have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorders. It will allow them to complete their work and be comfortable in their educational setting! In the real world people are confronted with making choices everyday and by using flexible seating it allows children to learn how to make decisions.
