My Students
"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning" stated by Brad Henry. I believe all students are capable of learning and should want to learn. As a teacher I feel like its my responsibility to give them a reason to love learning, no matter what it takes.
I am a first year year teacher of a second grade Emotionally Disturbed class.
We are located in a low income neighborhood. I have a 12:1:1 class with students on all different learning levels. My students are in need of resources and support in order to receive the full learning experience that they need. My students are very capable of succeeding but would benefit from the help of some extra resources in the classroom.
My Project
Being that I am a first year teacher all resources that I can receive would benefit my students tremendously. I have many different learners in my classroom but most tend to be visual learners. It would helpful to have an in class printer in our classroom being that most of the modifications for my students involve pictures. Having an in class printer would grant me access to make hand-outs and worksheets that would help to educate my students who need the visuals in order to grasp concepts.
Another resource that would be a great contribution to our classroom are the organizational resources. This will allow my students to develop the proper routine that is needed in the classroom to ensure stability. Making my students accountable for placing their work in the correct station will build their organizational skills. This is a task that they can later on apply to their own personal life. Therefore it is much so relevant to develop and build these routines at a young age.
Donations would benefit our classroom by a landslide.
Having an in class printer would allow for more class instruction artifacts. This will also give students the opportunity to create work that can be published and displayed for all to see. The donations would benefit my students' organizational skills. It would allow students to develop these organizational skills now to lead them to a successful future.
