This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first year teacher in Philadelphia, I want to give my students the best start they can have in second grade. My own second grade teacher believed I could go on and succeed and I want to pass on the same sense of self-confidence to my students. However, a safe and fun environment first needs the supplies that will support students endeavors. My students come from multilingual and often immigrant families who cannot always afford to participate in back to school shopping.

I want my students to know they are just as capable as any other student in any other neighborhood, and that they are in control of their learning.

I want nothing more than to provide my students with the tools and materials that will best help their success, both in and out of school. What I ask for are the supplies to support not only my first step towards teaching but the rest of my students' growth.
