This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am currently a teaching intern helping in grades K-4th by pulling small groups to close learning gaps and teach lessons to prepare myself for the following year. Next year I will be a first-year teacher, and I aim to provide resources to my students to help them grow. My goal is to create a welcoming classroom environment where my students feel comfortable and successful. That comes with providing materials as well as organization in the room.

As a first-year teacher, I am starting from scratch, and I want my students to be given the tools they need to be successful.

I aim to provide organization, rewards, and success with the items I request. The students I work with come from many different backgrounds and cultures. A large number live in low-income communities and have many challenges they face. As their teacher, I will give them an equitable education despite their background, and I hope to do that with your help! These students deserve the world, and I hope to give it to them.

I need bins for organizing school supplies. I will use the snacks for my treasure chest: pens, highlighters, other supplies for grading, students' work, and more. I plan on using the whiteboard stickers for small groups. I added clipboards so students can do work from anywhere in the classroom, so they feel comfortable as they work. The chair will be used during carpet time or when I teach from the front of the school, such as during read-aloud. I added a couple of sensory toys for decompressing when students feel overwhelmed and need stimulation. Every item will be used for an efficient and effective classroom.
