My Students

In August I will begin my first-year of teaching as a first grade teacher! I am SO excited to meet my students and start my teaching journey!

Above all else, my goal as a teacher is to ensure my students feel welcomed and important when they come into the classroom.

Due to the unprecedented times we are in, this school year will be much different than anything we've ever experienced and it is so important the students feel represented in the classroom. This project will help my students feel seen, welcomed, and important.

My Project

I believe it is SO important to build a classroom library that has a large variety of books to choose from. I want to have a library full of books that represent and are relatable to my students, as well as, books that may teach them about other cultures and interests present in the classroom.

In first grade, students grow tremendously as readers and it is imperative they are provided a library of books that they are eager and excited to read.

As a first year teacher, my library of books mainly consists of old books that have been passed on. Because of this, most of the books I have do not represent my students like I hope they would. I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to purchase culturally diverse books for my students to read.
