This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are three resources that will help me elevate my students learning and allow me to provide them a variety of activities to make math fun. The gift card can help me find activities that other teachers have created to support me for my first year of teaching. I use interactive math journals with my students, therefore, I need glue for their note inserts and for other cut and paste activities we do. Finally, the whiteboards I currently have are one sided and do not include the grid side. These come in handy when we are graphing, which we do quite a bit through out the year.

My goals for this project are to find and use resources that will support me as a first year middle school math teacher and an equitable learning experience for my students.

What makes my students special is that they come from socioeconomically challenging backgrounds and need that additional support and love at school to keep them engaged. I hope to create and maintain an environment that provides them the resources to support their learning, keep them engaged and make them feel safe.
