My Project

Teaching social-emotional lessons in an autism classroom is essential because many students with autism benefit from explicit instruction in understanding and managing emotions. By focusing on these skills, I can help my students recognize their own feelings, identify emotions in others, and develop healthy ways to express themselves. I plan read and share the books with my students and have them use the art supplies in lessons that not only support their emotional well-being but also enhance their ability to build relationships, navigate social situations, and cope with challenges in and out of the classroom.

Through structured activities with art materials, visual supports from the requested books, and real-life practice, my students can gain confidence in expressing themselves and responding to others.

Ultimately, social-emotional learning empowers students with autism to thrive both academically and personally, preparing them for success in school and in life beyond the classroom.
