We are a brand new FIRST high school, all-girls robotics team that is passionate about expanding a future of equal opportunity — and equal rewards — in the workforce. It is critical to remove gender-based barriers that keep girls from pursuing their dreams and reaching their potential. In the past 4 weeks, we built a robot to compete in the qualifying FIRST Robotics Competitions in March, with the goal of scoring high enough to make it to the state championship and possibly the world championship.
The toolboxes that I have requested are needed to transport all of their very heavy tools and supplies to the competition.
These toolboxes all snap together and the bottom box is on wheels, making these heavy tools easier to transport and store. Some of the tool storage pieces I have requested include: rolling large tool boxes, medium tool boxes, and smaller bins to organize and travel with spare parts.
We believe in learning with an eye toward tomorrow’s economy. The fastest growing, most well-paid sectors require strong STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) that many students — especially female students — are often not getting.
Besides building a robot, FIRST robotics also will help our team develop soft skills such as problem-solving, self-directed learning, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
