My Students
The robotics club is an after school extra-curricular activity that is open to all interested students who want to join the club and learn about robotics through competition on our VEX and FIRST teams.
These are some of the most dedicated and hard working students trying to make something of themselves, they are trying to learn the necessary skills to be successful Engineers, Programmers, and many other STEM fields of study.
The students who attend my high school are on the lower side of the socioeconomic ladder. Living in the western part of the state, there are not as many opportunities for my students to thrive. In the eyes of the state, our school has a Title III status that our district has been struggling to overcome.
My Project
FIRST Robotics Competition Team at our school is an after school extra-curricular program for students, grades 9-12, to learn about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through hands-on learning in the field of robotics. Through the FRC program, my robotics team members design, build, and program robots.
These robots then compete at regional competitions, with the potential of qualifying for the Regional Championship Tournament and the World Championship competition.
This year we are rookies in FRC and we have faced unprecedented challenges finding sponsors and funding to complete our robot.
We still need a cart to move the robot around at events, as this robot can have a final weight of up to154 lbs and is approximately 24" wide and 36" long, and 45 inches tall. We are also in need of aluminum for the "Belly Pan" of the robot, some square tubing for intake mechanism designs, and brass material for bushings that will be machined by the students.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
