My students come to school excited to see their friends, read their books, and learn new things. We are in a school that encourages open discussion between teacher, student, and family. This kind of open environment can also be seen in our classroom. My class consists of students of many different cultures and races who can speak more than one language at home. Some of these languages include Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Farsi. Our class is truly a melting pot of learners!
My Project
My first graders learn the best when they have time to collaboratively discuss with their peers and then practice what they learned independently. With 30 students in our class, trying to create that environment and space to work independently can be difficult. Therefore, some students are given different spots around the classroom to do their thinking and independent work without the disturbance of their classmates. These privacy folders/partitions will give the students the option to choose whether or not to stay at their seats to work since it will create private space for my students to think and practice their independent work. The donation will make a great impact on my classroom and the students' learning.
