This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My dream is to make school as exciting and engaging as I can for my first graders. But with little or no resources it's difficult to do. I'm reaching out to Donors choose to help make the first grade the best experience for these 6 and 7 year olds.
I work in a school in Spanish Harlem in New York City.
My students are mostly minorities and live in nearby shelters. My first graders are so smart and eager to learn. They love to come to school. My school has no budget to buy supplies and this year our teachers choice money was taken away, therefore I have limited resources. I love to do art projects with my students that are literacy and math based. I make homemade literacy games and they love to play them.
My Project
If I am able to get the resources I have asked for it would change my students' lives for the better. With the literacy games they can be exposed to practicing different skills that will help improve their reading. The listening center will allow students to listen to their favorite books and open them up to new and exciting stories. with the art supplies we can do various activities and art projects based on their favorite stories. The pencil sharpener is the most important because without a sharpened pencil my students would not be able to become amazing writers of wonderful small moment stories.
This project is so important to me and my students.
It will make their first grade experience a memorable one and hopefully be the beginning of their love of school. I want to make a difference in the lives of my students and it starts with these simple things that can be used to open a door of excitement and learning in first grade. Please help me help my children.
