First Graders, Let's Get Excited and Travel Through BOOKS!
My students need an engaging classroom library to spark their interest and love for reading.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Miller's classroom raised $780

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are first graders that are in a title 1 school, a school with over 90% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Over 90% of the students attending my school are affected by poverty. My students have a strong desire to learn and explore. This project will allow my students from very diverse backgrounds to work collaboratively as we learn the important foundation of financial literacy. This will help my first grader students to understand and learn the essential concept of economics.
My Project
Being that over 90% of my students are affected by poverty, they do not have the resources at home to support their learning at school. My students will be able to check out these books and hands on activities for home use so that they can continue the learning at home.
These items will also provide for fun and engaging literacy based centers and cross curricular activities throughout our school day.
The leveled library 1 will provide some fun and engaging learning experiences while reading narrative texts that will help my student learn the importance of reading and comprehension. The leveled library 2 is an assorted bundle of leveled nonfiction text that will engage my students in rich text and topics of interest, especially for our boys.
Both leveled library sets will provide that differentiated support and learning for students so that they fall in love with reading and become life long learners from this experience.
The fluency cards is a hands on activity that students can using during reading centers. These cards will provide and exciting and engaging reading activity so that my students can tract their own growth in reading fluency.
The check out system will provide an organized system for my students to check out "just right books" and take them home to practice. Not only will my students enjoy the wide selection of text but they will also learn to be responsible and independent in picking their own books.
All the resources in this project will also be available for students to check out and continue their learning at home with their families.
