My students need privacy folders in order to take full advantage of their independent work time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 24 first graders do a fabulous job at working collaboratively. Although, collaborative work time is most often used in our classroom, my students need to also learn how to work independently. At this time, in order to get students to work independently, I have to move students all over my room.
Instead of moving my students all over the room for independent work time, having privacy folders would make this time more valuable and meaningful.
My first graders live in a very high poverty district in Glendale, Arizona. My students are very eager to learn and love school.
My Project
My students will use these privacy folders during independent work time as well as while taking assessments. I will add essential learning documents to the inside of the privacy folders such as the alphabet, writing tips, sight words, etc. The privacy folders will be neatly kept in the privacy folder storage rack.
Donations to this project will allow my students the opportunity to learn what independent learning looks like, sounds like and feels like.
Once my students master independent work we will be able to successfully use collaborative and independent work time.
