Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is Title 1 and has faced massive budget cuts. We are in need of literacy and math centers in our classroom to give my students the opportunity to reinforce their academic skills. In addition to lack of resources, our students come from high poverty and low socio-economic backgrounds.
My kindergartners are eager to learn.
They are beginning to read, write, and count independently and take pride in their work. Many of my students did not attend Pre-K and came to class with limited language and academic skills, but still strive to do their best. The literacy and math centers will provide differentiated and extended learning experiences for all my students.
My Project
The literacy and math centers will give my students the chance to work independently at their own ability level at the same time as engage all learners. This will be their time to practice the skills and strategies they learned while the teacher works with small groups.
The magnets and stamps will reinforce fine motor skills and encourage "hands-on" learners. The writing center will produce better writers. The phonics games will help them learn sounds and letters faster. Math manipulatives and games are not only fun but also memorable and essential for students to learn how to order, count and represent numbers. Each center will give the students the opportunity to enhance the skills taught in the classroom.
Do you remember literacy and math centers when you were in kindergarten?
My students will have a class with centers that are fun, interactive, meaningful, and memorable. All these positive outcomes are possible with your generous donations. Thank you!
