My students need a new computer in the classroom. Two computers are not enough for 26 students to use. Technology will help our students build English skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is today! Technology is everywhere! When children don't have access to technology they are missing out. In the primary grades we need to build a foundation for what's to come. If we don't expose the children to technology at a young age, then they are all ready in a disadvantage.
My students are English learners and come from other countries.
Spanish is their primary language, therefore they need as much exposure to the English language as possible. They attend a school that has 95% latinos. The neighborhood is surrounded by lower income apartments, as well as shelters for the homeless. The only technology our students have is the technology the classrooms provide for them.
My Project
Since my students are English learners who come from low income families, the only exposure to technology they get is the exposure the classroom gives them. At home they don't have access to computers or internet. Having extra computers in the classroom will help my students get exposure to the English language. There are wonderful programs like starfall.com or activities from our own Treasures reading program that are animated and help our students build English skills. They have fun on the computers without even knowing they are learning.
I want my students to learn the basics of computers (how to turn on, go online, research) as well has allow them to use engaging programs that will help them learn.
Your donations will be crucial to our classroom!
Every dollar donated towards our computer will be a dollar closer to helping English learners become successful with today's technology. As well as making a difference on how fast these lower income students learn and master the English language.
