First Graders Hungry for Technology Software

My students need a variety of computer software to use with our interactive SMART Board and computer center. Students love working and learning with technology.

My Students

My students have been drooling over our computer center that was donated by a local company. You know the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Well, these computers are our treasures! We are excited to start using them, however, we are in desperate need of educational software.

My students are bright and inquisitive.

They are hungry for knowledge and experiences. The more I feed them information, the hungrier they get and the more they want to learn! It is exciting to have such eager learners in my classroom. I would love to feed their thirst for knowledge by introducing more opportunities to use technology within the classroom setting. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. By utilizing the technology that has been graciously donated to my class, I will be able to give my students the opportunity to learn, explore, and experience subject matter in a new and exciting way.

My Project

With the addition of educational software, my students will be able to continue their learning and practice their skills in a variety of academic subjects. The software that I have chosen will meet the various levels of all of my students, from remediation to challenge. Students will be able to practice and sharpen their basic skills and also be challenged with higher level thinking activities and advanced concepts. Technology allows students to put down the pencil and look at their practice and learning needs in a different and exciting way. Please help my students by donating these wonderful software programs that will help enrich their daily lessons. I have requested programs to support phonemic awareness and phonics (both of which are essential to reading and writing), various mathematics applications including time, money, and measurement, and programs that will support our science curriculum for life and physical science.

This project will not only engage and support my students' learning for this school year, but for many years in the future.

Technology in the classroom is a wonderful teaching tool to support learners of all abilities and interest. This project will help give daily access to technology and additional learning opportunities that many of my students simply do not have access to at home.
