This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My first graders are joyful, energetic learners who are just discovering the magic of reading. Many of them are beginning readers, and the excitement they feel when they can read a book all by themselves is priceless. They come to school full of curiosity and ready to learn every day.
My goal is to build enthusiasm and reading confidence in my classroom.
First graders thrive on routine and familiarity—so when they connect with a character or storyline, they want to keep reading! Series like Fly Guy, Elephant & Piggie, Biscuit, Dogman, and others are just right for their level and help students grow fluency through repetition and joy. These books will be used during our independent reading time, partner reading, and take-home book bags.
Many of my students don’t have access to books at home, so having an inviting classroom library filled with books they want to read makes a big difference.
These series will give my students the gift of reading success and the excitement that comes from finishing “just one more book!” Your support helps build a strong literacy foundation—and a lifelong love of books.
