My Students

My students are fighters. They love to learn new things and be challenged. Don't tell them they can't do something. They will prove you wrong. The different approaches to learning help them to grow. In spite of their economic status they are breaking the stereotypes and achieving various goals like substantial growth in math and raising reading scores.

My Project

This past year was a doozy! The kindergarten class had to learn via the computer using apps they and their parents never heard of. They had assignments that were digital. Assessments are hard in person and even harder via Zoom. These kindergartners will be in first grade this year and they will have a lot of firsts; first time in a classroom, first time in a school that is 10 times larger than their home, first time sitting at a desk, first time eating meals in a cafeteria and first time having recess with kids they only know from the computer. My students will need chair pockets to hold their binders for writing and classwork. They will also need journal books to practice writing sentences and stories. Dry erase boards will help them write their answer to math problems, write sentences, and their answers to questions without coming to the board. I want to give these students a great boost to the school year so they will be successful in meeting their goals.
