First Graders Cover the Election!

My students need Election 2016 Skills Book: Grades K–1 and American Symbols, Scholastic News Nonfiction Readers: Grades 1 - 2.

My Students

My students are inquisitive first graders from a diverse, Title I public elementary school in Philadelphia. Many students come from the immediate neighborhood, but some come from other parts of the city, just to attend our school.

First graders are full of energy and enjoy learning through discovery.

They love learning about a variety of subjects and we have great discussions on a daily basis. They find the world around them fascinating and are eager and open to any challenge presented to them.

My Project

My students are in need of Social Studies materials that are current, age appropriate, and high interest. These Election 2016 magazines will prepare the students for what is going on in the upcoming election in an engaging manner. My first graders will also be able to take these magazines home to share what they've learned, with their families.

These materials will improve my student's understanding of the election process and the importance of the role of the president.

The subject matter is bound to promote discussion and can even lead to a class election, where a class president is elected!
