This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Unfortunately, budget cuts have hit New York City public schools very hard. We are in dire need of very basic schools supplies such as crayons and pencils. Although the parents do purchase basic supplies in September, we have almost run out of pencils and crayons.
All our students qualify for 100% free/reduced lunch.
The majority are English Language Learners. They come to school with a smile each day and are eager to learn. Please help me to provide them with basic school supplies to make their learning experiences at school more fun.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting are basic materials, such as pencils and crayons. Each day, students complete written assignments such as opinion pieces, informational pieces and personal narratives in their writing notebooks . First graders love to include beautiful pictures with their writings. They need pencils to write their stories and crayons to add pictures to their writings. Please help me to provide my students with the tools that they need to express themselves through their writing.
Our school is located in a very high-needs area.
Requesting donations of more learning materials puts a heavy financial burden on these parents. Without these basic materials, my first graders cannot complete their written assignments or artwork.
