I teach 25 first grade students in a large urban school district. My goal is to have my students reading on or above grade level by the end of the year and to create lifetime learners!
My scholars are energetic and come to school every day to learn.
They want to be police officers, teachers, doctors, astronauts, and professional athletes. They know that they need to start their education off right! However, many of them come to school each day without the supplies they need.
My Project
I am requesting school supplies for my students. We need crayons, paper, dry erase markers, glue sticks, pencils, dry erase sheets, and a pencil sharpener.
Many students in Philadelphia come to school every day without the basic supplies they need in order to succeed.
As a result, teachers must purchase these materials throughout the year. This also creates constant interruptions during the instructional block because students don't have what they need to complete their assignments.
Providing these supplies will ensure that they can get the most out of first grade. We will not have to come to school each day and worry about how we will complete tasks and have fun. Having these supplies would truly make a difference in their lives!
