This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first year teacher who is teaching 30 first grade students at a title one school. Many students come from a low income household with limited resources. As a teacher I strive to provide them with the most educationally rich resources. My students come to school eager to learn on a daily basis. With budget cuts happening yearly, it becomes difficult and costly to keep student resources new in order for them to use. I would like to be able to offer my students various learning resources.
My Project
My students need to build reading fluency. 80% of the students in my classroom are reading below first grade level. In order to scaffold and support their needs, I will type out the sight words onto labels and then place the label onto the spiral index cards and each student will receive a set. The individual dry erase boards, will be used for small group instruction, such a reading strategies and sight words as well as math re-teach and quick assessments. In order for my students to be successful these are just some of the materials that they will be needing to guide and support their learning.
