"A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament," Oscar Wilde said, and my students need the tools to be able to express themselves with art.
My class is made up of 19 students about evenly split between boys and girls.
They attend a rural school in Idaho with approximately 70%of the kids qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Our school does not have an art teacher and the arts are not funded in our classrooms.
My Project
My students need arts and craft supplies to be able to make beautiful works of art! School funding cuts have made it impossible for me to purchase classroom art supplies. We need paints, paint brushes, and other craft supplies that allow us to paint pictures and make things that help us express ourselves. My students love to create things for holidays and to match the lessons we have been learning. These supplies will allow me to broaden the lessons that I can teach my students and incorporate more media into my student's lives.
All students can make art.
Some of my students struggle academically, but art is one area where all of my students can create and express themselves in a way that makes them all feel good. My students will be able to showcase their work and be proud of their creations.
