First Grade Needs STEM Experiences

Help me give my students experiences in STEM. The STEM bundle will help them grasps scientific and engineering concepts that they can experience and test, instead of just getting to read or see videos about these concepts.

My Students

My students come into class each day excited about learning and are thrilled to be at school. Most of the 26 students in my class live in Flint, Michigan and have been affected in some way by the water crisis. But they still are sweet, happy children that are eager to learn.

My students want to do their best, but they have some obstacles in their way.

They often do not have pencils, crayons, or other supplies at their home to complete work that we do not finish in class. This is why it is so important to optimize their time in the classroom and give them as many educational experiences as possible.

My Project

I do not have the materials to give my students opportunities to experience STEM concepts using hands-on materials. Students would get to try out the activities, make a hypothesis, test that hypothesis, find out if they were correct, and if they're not try again.

Testing their hypothesis is going to instill the STEM concepts into their knowledge more than reading books or watching videos about the STEM concepts ever could.

This STE bundle would help the students learning tremendously. Not only will they learning about STEM concepts, but by failing and trying again they will learn life skills necessary to become great scholars.
