it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The study of mathematics, like the Nile, begins in minuteness but ends in magnificence.
Charles Caleb Colton
I work in a low-income high poverty district.
My students are the children of migrant workers, refugees and parents looking to achieve the American dream. My students are dedicated and eager to learn. They love coming to school every day and doing their best with what they have.
My Project
My students will be able to use these materials to enhance their mathematical thinking and reasoning. The dice are used to encourage hands-on practice for adding and subtracting. With different number ranges, I will be able to meet the needs of all my students whether they are just learning to count or are adding fluently to twenty. The problem solving journals are a must to encourage thinking outside the box. The activity set and Math Grade 1 will ensure constant review and exposure to math standards.
These items will improve my children's lives by getting away from the mundane worksheets.
The will be able to experience hands-on applications and deeper levels of mathematical thinking.
