My students need a mixture of nonfiction and fiction texts for our classroom, write and wipe pockets for Math, and an iPad to get hands on experience with technology.
My students love to read! They enjoy reading nonfiction and fiction text. They also love technology as most children these days do! Educational games can give them the experience they need with technology while engaging them in learning!
My students are creative six and seven year olds who want nothing more than the opportunity to learn.
The resources I have asked for will help with this. My school is a low socio economic school in Louisiana, and most of students do not have much! They are hard workers and appreciate everything given to them.
My Project
The resources that I have requested will benefit and engage my students in learning. The books will help to build background on experiences that my students may not have experienced. For example, one of the books is about caring for a pet. Majority of my students do not have pets, and would love to learn about how to care for them. The write and wipe covers will provide the perfect opportunity for partner work. In Math, we always work in pairs to explain how we solved a problem and what strategy we used to solve it. When students engage in partner work, they are building social skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives! By explaining their reasoning, they also become more confident in themselves and their ability. The iPad will be a wonderful asset to introduce my students to interactive learning in Reading centers! The experience with technology will also give them the opportunity to prepare for the PARCC assessment which they will take in 4th grade.
My students are wonderful little people!
They truly enjoy learning and are always wanting to know more. This project will build on their love for learning. It will impact their education in a positive way.
