First Grade Listening Center

Help me give my students sets of books to read as they listen to the stories in the new classroom Listening Center.

My Project

My goal is to have my first grade students reading many books. In order to do that, I am hoping to have a center where the children can listen to recorded stories and read along with those stories. Providing them with the opportunity to hold the book and read along with the story, while it is read aloud, is a crucial part of helping the children in their fluency and comprehension growth.

The books, the listening center will bring to the classroom, will provide students with more opportunities to read along with fluent readers.

Students need to hear someone read to them multiple times during the day in order to build their comprehension and fluency.

Students will work together to set up the center and begin listening as a team. After listening, students will discuss what they have read to build comprehension. This will be one of many literacy centers in my classroom to help students become confident fluent readers.
