This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What is the best way to learn? My little ones would say "through play!" My students are almost ready for first grade but they need further support on certain math concepts such as money, addition and subtraction. Math games will help target math concepts and make the process fun.

I have 38 Kindergarten students.

They love school and love to be challenged. For most, this is their first schooling experience and I strive to make their learning as enjoyable as possible. We are a public school with few resources. Unfortunately, there is no budget to purchase supplemental math materials. In addition, because I have such a large group, it is essential that I have a wide range of math games for the groups.

My Project

We have adopted the Common Core State Standards but are still following an old Math curriculum that is not aligned to the Common Core Standards. These math games will target Common Core but more importantly make learning fun. My students work in small cooperative groups daily and these games would be a great addition to what is already in place.

These math games will help increase math scores, prepare them for first grade and more importantly challenge them.

As they are young they thrive on discovering "the new". These games will help to further cultivate and sustain their excitement for learning, especially as they will shortly embark on a stage of their education--first grade!
