First Grade Fun In Science!

My students need to have hands-on activities including Can Do! Science Discovery Kits, a Butterfly Nursery, a daily science resource book to get their curious minds thinking!

My Students

Science is the best part of the day for students. It is a time where they get to explore and question the world around them. Help my students to be able to have the opportunity to experience hands-on activities in science that make learning fun!

I am a beginning teacher in the first grade and all my students are such curious kids and LOVE science!

However my resources are limited in science materials. Next year I want to pump up my science block by having LOTS of experiments and activities for my students to do! I believe in the 5 E's of Science: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. That is how students are most successful in the classroom! My students are filled with questions (as most 6 years olds are) and love to get their hands moving into a science experiment. It is their favorite subject by far! During our science fair time this year all were so involved in the process and I want that interest to keep going all year long!

My Project

These materials will be used during my science activity centers though out the year in our various topics of instruction. Science is a subject that needs to have resources for it to be experienced and understood. At the beginning of my teaching career I do not have the resources and my school does not either. I want students to not just hear about motion, sink and float, pushes and pulls and other topics. I want them to be a part of it, and these materials will do just that!

By donating to this project I will have the materials to make my science block more engaging than it has ever been!

Students will be learning and deeply understanding the concepts of many science topics.
