My students need Design and Build Engineering Centers, Engineer-A-Coaster, Chain-A-Reaction Kit, and a Wipe and Write Center to practice their engineering skills.
My students are inner city 6 year olds with vivid imaginations and curiosities. They may not have the most stable home life but they come to school to learn have fun.
Unfortunately, school is not as much fun as it should be, testing has replaced creativity.
The best way to help these little people improve their skills in engineering and math is to create things themselves.
They will also work together in small groups which helps build the much needed cooperation skills.
My Project
These STEM kits will help me provide the materials needed for my students learn what engineering is all about. They will design, build, and test these models as they work together.
One of the most difficult things for this age group to do well, is work in a small group.
Too often one child is the boss and the rest end up watching. These activities will provide jobs for each student in the group while they emphasize design skills.
These activities will allow the children to have fun as they are learning valuable skills in science, math, technology as well as cooperation!
