Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Here's how each of the items I choose can support my first-grade students:
Hand Sanitizer: Helps keep my students hands clean, reducing the spread of germs, especially during cold and flu season.
First graders are still learning about personal hygiene, so having hand sanitizer nearby encourages them to stay healthy and limits the spread of illness.
Band-Aids: Young children often get small scrapes or cuts from playing, and Band-Aids are a comforting and practical solution. They help minimize distractions from minor injuries, allowing students to feel cared for and stay focused on their activities.
3Black Sharpie Markers: I use Sharpies to label students' items, create durable name tags, make anchor charts, mark classroom objects clearly and amoungst many other things. Sharpies can also be used for art projects where strong, bold lines are needed, encouraging creativity while giving students a more permanent tool to create with (under supervision).
Erasers: First graders make plenty of mistakes as they learn to write and draw, so erasers help them feel comfortable making and correcting mistakes. This helps to build confidence and promotes a growth mindset, showing students that it’s okay to try again if they don’t get it right the first time.
Together, these supplies help create a clean, organized, and supportive learning environment where first graders can focus on their education and develop confidence and responsibility.
