Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

COVID-19 has had a major impact of social and behavioral skills. The lack of social interaction for such a long time at a such a young age has left many keiki in need of extra supports on how to label, express, cope with their feelings and also in communication. Some of the items in this project assist with those skills and others in expressing emotions through creativity for those who are not skilled with verbal expression.

Before a child is able to learn academically, they need to be ready emotionally and mentally.

This is why items such as the labeling feelings flipbook that includes suggestions on how to cope with those feelings is on this project and so important. Because COVID-19 has impacted these social and communication skills so seriously, a good portion of instructional time has been used to teach/learn these important life skills. Books listed in this project will be used to reinforce learning at hope and also be used for practice over the summer when we are not able to send home books daily.

The last items listed are science activities for keiki to have fun. Learning should be fun and it is intended to be.
