First Annual Horchata Nutcracker and Blanket/Coat Drive!
Help me give my students an incredible first annual Nutcracker and Winter Blanket/Coat Drive to help those in our community stay warm this winter while providing the needed props and materials for our big event.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every child yearns to be seen, heard, and celebrated. All 100 Gaston dance students will shine on the stage this December as we present something near and dear to our hearts that we've created together from scratch. The "Horchata" Nutcracker is our adaptation of Tchaikovsky's beloved winter classic, but this time through a Mexican-American lens.
Tickets to this event are FREE but admission is granted with the donation of a winter coat or blanket that our community liaison will then disperse to our many Gaston families in need.
It means so much to our students to celebrate their cultures and tell their own stories while engaging with classical ballet and an elite level of performance. It means even more to get to do so knowing that our event will clothe the needy and help to keep them warm this winter.
Your support of this project will not only end here in December. The funds that are raised during the show through concession sales will purchase dance shoes and costumes for our students, as well as fund spring field trip opportunities.
