My Project

Creating with clay is always a favorite project among all students and offers a unique and memorable art experience. Myself and the other art teacher at my school want to provide our diverse student population of 1,200+ individuals with the opportunity to create with this medium. Because of our many students, our budget usually can't stretch to include clay and glazes.

After creating the clay projects, they are very fragile while they are drying and waiting to go into the kiln so storing and safely transporting all of the clay projects between our 2 classrooms to the kiln is currently a challenge.

The pan rack would allow us to store and move the clay projects with the least amount of handling or risk of damaging the clay.

Lastly, the kiln- an oven used to fire the pottery- requires cones each time it is used and regular use requires maintenance to keep it in good condition. Several of our shelves are damaged from improper use so we want to replace these and purchase kiln wash- a covering that will protect the shelves from future damage.

This project will provide all of our students with clay this year but it will also provide some tools that will help keep our ceramics lessons thriving for many years to come.
