Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most hardworking students at our school. All of my students are special education students.

They are students with Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Language Disabilities or Other Health Impairments.

These disabilities make learning more difficult for them. In addition, over 65% of my students are English Language Learners, many of these students are still learning how to speak English. Our school has the highest Hispanic population in the state. Our school also qualifies as a Title I School: over 85% of our students live in poverty and receive free/reduced-priced lunch. Despite all of these obstacles, these students are eager to come to school each day. They always try their best and never give up when they face hardships. The students at this school are really special, and their enthusiasm and willingness to learn make teaching them such a joy.

My Project

My students have loved learning how to code over the last year. We recently received two dash robots and they are so excited to use them. These Kindle Fires will allow my students to operate their Dash robots.

It will allow them to learn how to code a robot to walk, dance, speak, and complete obstacle courses.

These Kindle tablets will also allow my students to practice their math skills. Many of my students struggle with memorizing their basic facts. Daily practice on a tablet is a great way for them to learn them. Thank you for always supporting my classroom!
