My students need 4 Kindle Fires because we have a limited number of computers in our class, and they are great tools for intervention time.

My Students
I have a classroom full of 23 eager to learn first graders, and they are the most amazing group of kids. They come to school excited about the day and ready to work hard and learn a lot. They have a variety of different interests and all love story time. The first thing they do when they come to class is look at the story books I have set out to read for that day. They love books and the classroom library! My classroom is also full of students whose families speak only Spanish at home. My school is a high poverty school in Memphis, TN. Our school is also a very large school, and even though it is large the students still feel that it is their home and they are welcomed there. We want it to be a high learning environment and want these students to have every opportunity available to them.
My Project
Having Kindle Fires in the classroom would help my class during our intervention block. I only have 5 computers in my classroom, and my students are required to spend a certain amount of time on different intervention sites each week. Having such a limited number of computers and such a large class it is difficult to make sure every student is having their intervention time.
My students would be able to get on Reading Apps and Math Apps to help them during our center time.
During reading my students could listen to stories being read to them. They could also play phonics games as well. During math centers, there are numerous games that they would be able to play that would help them master the skill for the week. The possibilities are endless with this technology for my classroom.
