It's been so good to be back in my classroom this year, after a pandemic year of virtual learning. While we're still getting back into the groove of learning in person, I've noticed that my middle school learners are needing more time to take breaks in order to stay on track academically. As many students have academic gaps, they get frustrated more easily, and have anxiety when they're not getting a concept right away. In order to help with this issue, I've been including "brain breaks" in my lessons that support social-emotional learning.
"Brain Breaks" are a chance for everyone in class to unwind and bond through collective games or class challenges.
This proposal is asking for 2 soccer goals, and balls so that students can get some fresh air together. We've also asked for balls and equipment to make the games more official. Included in this proposal are lifesize "Jenga" and "Connect 4" games to be used in the classroom. Also included in this proposal are healthy snacks for when students haven't eaten breakfast, and some art supplies too.
