Fine Motor Tools and Flexible Seating for Dynamic Learners
My students need flexible seating during group discussions, a comfortable place to sit for our reading center and tools to strengthen their fingers so that they may learn to write well.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We live in the culturally rich East Downtown community in resilient Houston. My little Texans love to read stories to one another, write thank you notes to our parent volunteers as well as write stories about superheroes alongside their teacher. We observe living organisms and LOVE science - we enjoy filling up our journals with entries every day. We wiggle and wriggle during group discussions and love to raise our hand to discuss characters in books and what we think they should do.
My Project
My preschoolers love to learn, but they lack the resources for early exposure to materials to refine their motor skills. I have children who display a need to move freely and flexible seating affords us this opportunity. We lack a place to sit in our library and listening centers -with your support we will have an inviting reading area with comfortable bean bags. The dry erase sheet and pencil sharpener will be used to have multiple ways to record summaries of the books we have read. The weighted pillows, fidget toys and Think-and Roll footrest will be a calming aid for those children whose focus is too short during group discussions; the writing Egg Ohs assist in placement of fingers for a proper pencil grip. The Theraputty kit, latches board, Gumfun, and Scissors Guide help to build stronger finger dexterity. The cylinders and puzzle encourage concentration and are fun for children who are entering school for the first time
