This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Being on the spectrum isn't easy and put children with ASD at a disadvantage. Why is fine motor skill development important? Little hands need to develop dexterity and strength. You can help this process by encouraging children to play, explore and interact with a variety of items. Toys, clothing fasteners, safe scissors and play dough are all tactile examples of practices that facilitate fine motor development. These types of “play” activities and manipulation skills will actually help prepare children with ASD for other like skills.
The items I carefully picked for my students will help them develop strength in their little hands to hold adaptive scissors to than graduate to non-adaptive items in the near future.
