This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students our one of a kind!! They range from 3-5 years old and with disabilities ranging from autism to down syndrome and anything in between. The majority of my students get occupational and physical therapy in the school setting, but being that we are starting the school Year virtually this year, they will need lots of extra practice at home working on their fine motor skills.
My Project
The majority of my students have poor fine motor skills that we would normally be working on in the classroom with a variety of manipulatives. Parents are asking for inexpensive materials that they might be able to provide their child with. We have been creative using kitchen utensils so far, but having their own set of fun manipulatives will encourage and make hand exercises more engaging and repetitive for my students. The ABC robots are also fun with letter recognition. Students can recognize the letters in their name and then work on creating the robot.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
