Fine Motor Skills Are Essential For Little Ones’ Independence!
Help me give my students activities to strengthen their fine motor skills! My students need different activities to strengthen their hand muscles for writing and self-care skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Nikki's classroom raised $525

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. My students are on the autism spectrum and each face their own challenges, however, they each have their own strengths and abilities! My students are 3 and 4 years old and for many, this is their first school experience! They have to cope with separation anxiety, learn the routine of school and the structure of the day. They require visual supports to get them through their school day.
My students are creative, enthusiastic, and strong!
They love to move, listen to stories, sing songs, and love lots of positive attention! We learn during small and large group time. We also have a great deal of individual one on one learning! I focus on each child's individual potential each day. They are all so different and unique!
My Project
My students require a lot of fine motor activities in the classroom to strengthen their hand muscles for writing, feeding themselves, buttoning and zippering, etc. Hand strength and coordination do not come naturally for my students. We need to practice fine motor skills every single day in the classroom.
There are so many different fun ways to strengthen fine motor skills in children!
Some of the activities I would like to include in my classroom are small snap cubes and LEGOs. With these cubes/LEGOs, the children are connecting and twisting them apart as well as using their imagination to build! The magnetic color maze allows the kids to use the wand/pen to guide the balls to the correct color. This not only builds fine motor control but it also helps reinforce color recognition! A sand and water table will be a great addition to my classroom for both sensory and fine motor needs. While playing with sand/water, they are practicing eye-hand coordination and using fine motor skills to scoop, sift, funnel, and pour! Let's help my students become independent and successful!
