Fine Motor Play

Help me give my students resources to work on fine motor skills and also provide math and literacy components at the same time.

My Project

Students in kindergarten often struggle with fine motor skills. This year, I would like to start our days out with fun, engaging, hands-on activities that build fine motor skills. Not only do most of the items requested here work on fine motor skills, but they also provide a math or literacy component at the same time.

Through these materials, my students will receive a double dose of learning - fine motor fun with a twist!

Students will use the play-doh and play foam to create letters and numbers. The small erasers and domes will be used as incentives throughout the day. Watercolors will be used to paint pictures and many of the other materials will serve both math or literacy while incorporating fine motor skills too.

All of these materials will be used as morning work for students when they come into the classroom. Through these fun, engaging activities, my students will have the opportunity to build their fine motor skills, thus writing skills should improve as a result.
