Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an Occupational Therapist on the special education team, I provide skilled services to a diverse population of 3-12-year-old children with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments to promote functional independence and personal confidence within the school setting. My students join me for one-on-one and small-group special instruction where I provide personalized treatment and accommodations to allow for optimal engagement in the classroom setting.

The golf pencils will promote a functional grasp to increase the accuracy of handwriting skills such as letter formation.

The ABC blocks, fine motor jars, Lego Brick Box, connecting tubes, puzzle, scoop and count ice cream shop, fine motor Hedgehog, and find motor tongs will assist in promoting hand strengthening, stabilization, functional independence, and personal confidence within the school setting.

Students who engage with these toys will have fun and begin to engage more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that play is fun and is a perfect way to decrease fine and sensory-motor deficits. Engaging in meaningful play-based activities are a gateway to exploring new skills. My students will love getting their hands on new puzzles and blocks.
