Fine Motor Mania

My Students

Developmental kindergarten is such an exciting group of students. They have many interests, abilities, strengths, and goals. Some of my students are learning to write and count, while some of their classmates are learning to sign or use a writing utensil. Our group loves to play outside, play with cars and trains and dance like no one is watching.

My students are full of energy and life with bright, inquisitive minds.

My school is one of the first founded specifically for students with Autism. As an occupational therapy practitioner, I work with my students to help them gain skills needed to participate in classroom activities while respecting their individual differences and interests. Sensory processing, fine motor skills, and building relationships are just a few of the skills I work with my students to develop.

My Project

I chose a lot of materials that require the use of fine motor muscles. These materials will help my students build a strong foundation of fine motor coordination and strength.

Having strong fine motor skills will help my student write letters, draw, zip up their coats, ect.

I chose materials, such as marble mazes, string and beads as well as art supplies that will engage my students' attention while encouraging them to build fine motor skills. Children learn best through play and hands-on activities and these materials provide just that.
