Help me give my students tools to develop fine motor skills! Kinetic sand is a fun way to encourage them to use their hands and yoga cards give them strengthening movements to do in therapy!
Do you remember how proud you were when you first learned how to write, cut out a project, or tie your own shoes? For my kids, these tasks can seem incredibly difficult. Occupational Therapy helps them build the foundations they need to master these skills in order for them to succeed in school.
I provide support to students with disabilities perform their best in their academic environments, meaning anything from the classroom to the cafeteria or recess!
Many of my students have Autism, learning disabilities, or other developmental delays that make learning in a typical classroom difficult. Our school has both integrated NEST program classrooms as well as gifted and talented classrooms and general education classrooms.
My Project
My students often come to occupational therapy because they are having difficulty with their fine motor skills. This means that they are having difficulty using their hands to complete important tasks such as opening containers, buttoning and zipping clothing, and holding pencils.
Help me make strengthening little hands more fun with fine motor toys and activities!
Children are motivated by play and are more likely to make progress in their therapy goals if they are motivated and engaged. Supplies like resistive kinetic sand, colorful beads and pipe cleaners for crafts, and silly tweezers engage my students while working on all of the fine motor skills that they have difficulty with.
