"Technology gives the quietest student a voice." -Jerry Blumengarten
My students have universal communication difficulties and iPads have been shown to significantly improve their educational outcomes. Having these tools available to them will dramatically affect our classroom!
My students are mostly new to school, and so we will be working this year to learn what it means to be a part of a school community.
Many of them have autism, and others have other significant disabilities which globally impact their ability to learn in general education classrooms. My students are working to learn basic academic, social, and communication skills, and many of them do not communicate verbally.
My Project
I am requesting 2 iPads and 2 cases in order to reinforce the communication and academic skills they are learning. With access to iPads, my students will be able to reinforce the skills they are learning in the classroom by having access to social and academic apps. I will also allow them to earn additional time on the iPad as motivation to complete other work in our classroom. Utilizing the iPad as a motivational tool in addition to a communication tool has been incredibly powerful in my experience, and our classroom is in dire need of technology.
iPads are a tool that many educators are incorporating into their classrooms, and special educators are finding so much success with using these in their rooms as well.
My students will greatly benefit with access to technology and I hope to be able to incorporate these into our curriculum this year.
