My Project

I am currently coaching running clubs at two schools. Many of my runners are fairly new to the sport. They are trying something new for the first time while learning about positive character traits and healthy choices.

"You can do hard things" is something I tell my runners daily at practice.

Running is a life long sport. Students are learning to persevere even when it gets tough. Working with students at a Title I school, many of our student-athletes lack opportunities other students may have. I want to give them the best possible foundation and a love for a sport that teaches them so much more than just winning.

These materials, including lanyards and index cards, will help our kids track their mileage each week, and they will be given the opportunity to join the "Half Marathon" and "Marathon" Clubs. Students will keep a log of their laps and when they have reached these mileage goals cumulatively (13.1 miles & 26.2 miles), they will be awarded special "feet" charms for their great feats.

Our season culminates with a huge 5K with other schools across the Triad. In order for our students to be successful, they have to trust their training. Any way we can support and encourage them will help that race be fun, meaningful, and a true accomplishment for these student-athletes. If you choose to support our project, you will truly be helping our runners "find the finish line!"
